Since becoming a dad my caffeine intake has skyrocketed. I used to pride myself on only needing one cup in the morning to keep me burning all day. However, my kids have changed a lot of that. The other day while driving through town we passed a Starbucks and my son started yelling, “Coffee! Coffee!” My wife and I looked at each other in amazement and started laughing at how pathetic this observation was. We were surprised that he would pick up on that because we honestly don’t go there that often. Once in a while we’ll swing through on our way out of town or before a church service, but very rarely.
It reminded me that no matter how infrequent, or covertly we are doing something our kids are watching us. In my article “Peanut Butter & Pornography” I talked in more detail about this. This article is to serve as a gentle reminder: Make sure you are walking in purity before the Lord because not only is required in your relationship with God, it is crucial in your example to your children!
Sounds like your son has been paying close attention! HAHA! I too love Starbucks and am perparing my self for the needed increase in caffeine intake once he gets here in February!
Where can I get one of those Starbuck I’V'S? It would make a great gift for my wife…
