So, today we began the process of trimming the tip off of my sons pacifier, a common ploy used by many seasoned parents. He is only 18 months old but my biggest fear is that if we don’t do it soon he will become one of those kids running around with a pacifier who is old enough to verbally articulate a case as to why he should be allowed to still use it and write an essay supporting his cause. Okay, so that’s a bit of a stretch…
My mother said she took them away cold-turkey with my sister and I. That wouldn’t work for my son because he has become EXTREMELY dependant on it. We only give it to him when he sleeps, but, he WILL NOT fall asleep without it. We’ve tried.
He looked at it kind of funny and put it back in his mouth. We’ll see how this goes. Have you already been through this? What was your experience like?
